Crawl space before and after rodent control in Bellingham

Every photo on this page comes from an actual Bellingham or Whatcom County job. We document every entry point we find and every seal we install, because a customer who can't verify the work was done is a customer who has to take our word for it. We'd rather show you the evidence.

Photo 1

Before: Norway rat entry gap at sill plate, Columbia neighborhood crawlspace. 1¼-inch settling gap where sill plate had separated from concrete foundation block. Active Norway rat runway with fresh droppings and rub marks visible on adjacent wood.

After: Galvanized hardware cloth cut to fit and secured mechanically. Metal flashing installed at sill-to-foundation interface. Entry point rated A (active use) before sealing, rated clear on 7-day follow-up.

Before: Corroded aluminum crawlspace vent screen, Lettered Streets home. Original aluminum mesh from 1958 construction, completely corroded and partially collapsed. Open aperture approximately 7 by 14 inches, sufficient for Norway rats, house mice, and large insects.

After: Galvanized steel vent cover with quarter-inch welded mesh, mechanically fastened to foundation wall with exterior-rated stainless hardware. Perimeter sealed with metal flashing.

Before: Utility penetration without seal, Fairhaven Victorian. Original gas line entry through foundation block, 1920s installation, no seal around the pipe. Gap visible from inside crawlspace, approximately ¾ inch around a ½-inch pipe.

After: Copper mesh packed tightly around pipe, compressed to fill gap, sealed with exterior-grade caulk over the top. No rodent activity at this entry point on 7-day or 30-day follow-up.

Before: Contaminated crawlspace insulation, Birchwood home. Norway rat nesting in insulation batts over two winters. Droppings throughout, urine saturation visible as dark staining, nesting material consolidated in three locations adjacent to floor registers.

After: All contaminated insulation removed, crawlspace surfaces treated with enzyme deodorizer to eliminate scent trails, new R-19 batts installed, vapor barrier patched. All five identified entry points sealed as part of same job.

How to Read the Evidence

What Good Before-and-After Proof Should Show

A useful rodent-control photo should answer more than “before” and “after.” It should make the scope understandable: where the opening was, what evidence made it relevant, what material was used, and what follow-up confirmed afterward.

That is why Rodent Shield Bellingham connects this proof page to the inspection/process and exclusion pages. The photo is evidence of the work; the process explains why that work was selected.

Every Job Produces This Documentation

Before-and-after photos of every confirmed entry point sealed, a written inspection report with severity ratings, a completion report emailed within 24 hours of job completion, and a 7-day follow-up inspection report. This documentation is available to homeowners for insurance purposes, real estate transactions, and tenant-landlord records.
